Tom Trask is a Suarez International Staff Instructor living among the frozen chosen just south of the US Canadian border. As a young man, Tom become keenly aware of the need for self protection as he found himself as an innocent motorist being fired upon in the midst of the Detroit riots. He obtained his first permit to carry a handgun in the late 70’s. In 1992, when Minnesota became a shall issue state, Tom became a NRA Certified Instructor.

His mission, to provide quality firearms education and training to law abiding citizens regardless of experience, ability, or skill. More than 1000 students have successfully completed their certification training with him. Tom is a Glock Certified Armorer, and Federal Firearm Licensee. He also lectures on personal protection issues in a non-gun format.

In his search for skill development, Tom has completed a number of firearm courses taught by international training schools including Suarez international in 2006 and again in 2010. Tom believes, “if I’m to save the lives of those I love, I need to put into practice the techniques of one who has actually ‘seen the elephant’. We’re not training for the test at the end of the class, we are training with the hope that true test will never come”.
