High Risk Vehicle Gunfighting
November 12-13, 2016
Murphy, North Carolina
Instructor: Rick Klopp
This is not a shooting class, per se – this is a class to get you
better prepared working in and around your vehicle. Although normally
reserved for a small niche within the operator community, the average
American spends upwards of 15 hours a week in their vehicle and
therefore this become a necessary skill set to own. Vehicle Gunfighting
involves a vehicle, a gun and a fight – very complex dynamics and often
in a very confined space.
This class is built around the “crawl-walk-run” approach and will
begin with a review of confined space tactics with Airsoft. We will then
progress to “purpose-built” props and live-fire exercises with our
pistols. We will continue to advance vehicle gunfighting concepts as we
use our pistols to fight our way to our rifles and look at some
team-tactics. Specific topics include:
- Primary use of your vehicle (drive-able, disabled, lack of egress)
- Defensive tactics from inside/outside your vehicle
- Seat belts and other restraints
- Exiting your vehicle while under pressure
- Engaging threats from the front, rear and lateral aspects
- Concerns for additional passengers and shooting from their perspective
- Vehicle design (center counsels, manual transmissions, A, B, C and D pillars, trunks, front-wheel vs. rear-wheel, etc.)
- Use of the vehicle as cover (what’s safe and what isn’t)
- Windshield, side windows, shooting through glass and bullet trajectories
- Administrative functions of the pistol from within your vehicle
- Discussion of gas station issues, parking lot dangers and panhandlers
This class will teach you to become dynamic in and around your vehicle – don’t be left helpless in this situation.
